Meker, calls participants to envision the future of kitchens in 50 years by research how kitchens were, how they’ve evolved, and imagining what they could become. The winning concept will be produced in Meker’s Factory, revealed during Beirut Design Week, and exhibited in Meker’s main window display for a year.

A family business established in Lebanon in 1967, Meker has become the uncontested leader in the market of kitchen fittings and wardrobes. The continued success of the brand can be attributed to the use of the finest materials, clean lines, functional furnishings, the astute advice of our specialists and flawless installation and after-sales service.
Nowadays, Meker continues its expansion and reach into new markets, all the while consolidating its expertise in kitchen furnishings and wardrobes. Family spirit, harmonious teamwork, the desire to stay ahead and curiosity to create new dimensions lead into a new adventure: Beirut Design Week.

What does the future look like? The year 2067 to be precise.
We invite participants to envision the future of urban spaces: What will our cities, our living spaces, our kitchens be like? Will we be growing our own food in a kitchen greenhouse? What kind of materials will we use? How will the water flow and how will the oven burn?
As Meker celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2017, we want to look ahead. To imagine the kitchens we’ll have in another fifty years.
We want designers to imagine with us. Go to the wildest, farthest extreme in designing the future. Research how kitchens were, how they’ve evolved, and what they could become.
